SHORT SUMMARY: Tempo was low and Netherland kept most of the ball, but as a contrast to the match against England, Norway didn’t manage to create much neither in established play nor in counter attacks. Norway was lucky to go to half-time with 0-0 against one of the best U19 teams in Europe. It was obvious that the heat was affecting the players today.
Netherlands dominated more and more as the match progressed. After 65 minutes the man of the match from Netherland’s 3-0 win against Germany, AZ Alkmaar’s Kees Smit, curled a ball into the corner with his left foot. 1-0 Netherlands. Norway had a short period of about 10 minutes after 0-1 where they dominated but nothing came of it. Netherlands then regained control and the match was very much decided when Ajax’ Don-Angelo Konadu made 2-0 in the 83rd minute.
Now Norway needs to win against Germany, and England cannot win against the Netherlands. It’s wide open. Will Netherlands rest their best players against England? Most likely.

1: Daniel Gjerde Sætren RATING: 5
A few good saves. Couldn’t really do much with the two goals.
2: Luca Høyland RATING: 4
An OK match defensively. Got into good positions several times on the right side during Norway’s good period but lacked the accuracy to make it count.
4: Fillip Voster Botnen RATING: 5
Norway’s best player in our opinion. Good control in the air, good positioning and passing for the most.
5: Jonathan Vonheim Norbye RATING: 5
Quite anonymous but held up well and kept a clean sheet while he was on the pitch.
15: Mikkel Kalvenes Hope RATING: 4
Probably a bit tired after running A LOT against England. Had OK control on his side. Few contributions offensively.
14: Troy Engseth Nyhammer RATING: 4
Works hard together with the rest of the midfield but it was an ungrateful task to keep up with high quality Dutch midfielders in 38 degrees. Seemed to get an injury after Norway had made all of their substitutions. Hopefully he is OK for the match against Germany on Friday where Norway has to win to have a chance at advancing to the semifinals.
6: Andreas Heredia-Randen 4
His pressure could have been better on 0-1. Otherwise OK.
18: Sigurd Jacobsen Prestmo RATING: 4
Pretty much the same feedback as his fellow midfielders.
11: Alexander Røssing-Lelesiit RATING: 4
A more defensive role compared to the England match where he was on fire. Held up well in defence but his touch didn’t quite agree with him against Holland. Looked tired from the heat.
8: Sondre Milian Granaas RATING: 4
Was moved up front as Norway had changed to a 4-4-2 from the start against Holland. Worked hard but little came from it.
7: Julian Bakkeli Gonstad RATING: 4
Works hard as always but very few positive offensive involvements.
18: Lars Bjørnerud Remmem RATING: 5
On for Sigurd Jacobsen Prestmo after 46 minutes. Made an impact immediately but didn’t manage to create much outside of the 10 minutes where Norway was dominating. Very good at bringing the ball efficiently into the right areas and won many challenges.
22: Magnus Holte RATING 3
On for Julian Gonstad after 46 minutes. Struggling against a solid Dutch defensive line.
18: Jesper Reitan-Sunde RATING 4
On for Alexander Røssing Lelesiit after 58 minutes. Worked hard but made little impact.
3: Mathias Øren RATING 4
On for Nordbye after 58 minutes. Got some well deserved rest after the match against England. Not ideal to come on as a central defender on 0-0 when the final result was 0-2 but it’s easy to see that Øren is a good central defender.
